Blue Screen of death, in DELL computers using BartPe from USB stick

bsod8-7-05

Hi,
like you I use Bartpe for my personal stuff and at work, and I found (and also other people) that for some reasons if you use BartPE from USB stick, instead of CD/DVD, in DELL computer you’ll see a BSOD. It’s weird cause in other computers, DELL laptops works fine but with certain DELL desktop causes this problem.

So here’s how to fix.

I suggest to use Pe2USB to make a USB key bootable with bartpe

You just need (as discovered by digital73 from 911cd forum) to replace ntdetect.com in the root folder of the usb drive.

You can find right ntdetect.com version from a Windows 2003 SP2 cd (or service pack), or if you want here is a BartPE plugin that replace the file for you.
